It was started from a facebook status of Cisca Suxma, one of the loyal members of weshare. It said "...all children can go to school if we share a euro every week...".

Several months afterwards, some people started to turn the status into reality.  They decided to begin with a community that later on is called "weshare". It consists of both Indonesians who live in the Netherlands and others who are attached to Indonesia in various ways.

weshare focuses its works and activities to support education projects for children and youth in Indonesia via schools, local organisations, orphanages and other educational institutions. In this context, education includes basic education according to the national rules, practical skills and other vocational studies.

The name of “weshare” is chosen because we want to share happiness, dream, hope and opportunity to Indonesian children and youth to get a better education and have a better future.
